Senior IT Portfolio Manager – Marketing Technology

Summary

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior IT Portfolio Manager who, in collaboration with our Marketing leaders, will proactively lead the strategy, implementation, and support of marketing technologies that are best in class for the Marketing function at a law firm and will power business development at Sidley. This role will serve as the primary liaison between Marketing, IT, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and optimization of tools used to manage campaigns, client engagement, digital assets, CRM systems, and pitch presentations. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise with technologies commonly used in legal marketing, is proficient in tools used for the creation and management of pitch materials, and has the advisory and communication skills to consult at the CMO level.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the firm’s marketing technology stack, including CRM (e.g., InterAction), email marketing (e.g., Vuture or Concep), website CMS (e.g., Sitecore or WordPress),  proposal and campaign management (e.g., Salesforce Sales Cloud ), pitch preparation (e.g. Figma, Canva), data quality (e.g., Cirrom),  digital optimization (e.g., Siteimprove), and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau).
  • Regularly assess emerging marketing technologies and industry trends to identify tools that could give the firm a competitive advantage.
  • Partner with the Chief Marketing Officer and marketing leadership to introduce and educate the department on cutting-edge solutions and innovations that align with strategic goals.
  • Oversee system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations with firm-wide platforms including document management systems (e.g., NetDocuments) and enterprise search tools.
  • Support marketing initiatives by ensuring technology tools meet the evolving needs of the business development and communications teams.
  • Collaborate with marketing to optimize lead generation, event management, and digital campaigns.
  • Maintain and support tools for creating dynamic, branded pitch and proposal materials
  • Manage relationships with marketing technology vendors and consultants.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including IT security, compliance, and marketing leadership to align systems with business goals and legal industry standards.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate. Target Salary Range

$170,000 - $190,000 if located in Illinois

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a marketing technology or martech support role.
  • Proven experience managing or implementing:
    • CRM platforms (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce)
    • Email marketing tools (e.g., Vuture, Concep)
    • Website content management systems (e.g., Sitecore, WordPress)
    • Proposal automation tools (e.g., PitchPerfect, QorusDocs)
    • Digital optimization platforms (e.g., Siteimprove)
    • Pitch preparation (e.g. Figma, Canva)
    • Analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics)
    • Data quality platforms (e.g., Cirrom)
  • Solid understanding of data privacy and compliance considerations, especially related to marketing communications (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM).
  • Exceptional project management, communication, advisory and stakeholder engagement skills at the CMO level.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment
