Summary

The Career Services Senior Manager is a relationship-builder who collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and promote relevant opportunities and candidates in support of the firm’s Career Services program. They will support alumni, lawyers, and select external contacts in their career journeys. They will also work closely with the marketing, alumni relations, learning and development , and others to leverage and support candidates and existing client relationships. They will promote the offerings of the Career Services program within the firm and to alumni, clients, and others to increase awareness and participation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with alumni, lawyers, clients, and select external contacts to support and provide guidance for their career growth
  • Match program clients with potential job opportunities
  • Facilitate personalized support for program clients, including regular individual outreach, identifying network connections, and sharing additional resources such as development of relevant professional documents including resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and bios
  • Support firm partners in sourcing appropriate candidates on behalf of firm clients
  • Provide support to key stakeholders (partners, learning & development team) who in turn support program clients
  • Build relationships with lawyers, clients, alumni, recruiters and others to source job opportunities
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market demands, and hiring needs to tailor our employer relations strategy accordingly
  • Track and analyze program data to assess effectiveness and seek opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct regular outreach within the firm and to alumni, clients, and others to increase awareness and participation in the program
  • Facilitate the process of connecting clients with suitable candidates
  • Collaborate with the marketing, alumni relations, learning and development teams and others to ensure Career Services are maximally integrated into firm processes and programming
  • Collaborate with Career Services and Alumni team on communications, newsletters, programming, and other content to raise the visibility of the program internally and externally
  • Contribute to the planning, execution, and design of firm and program data reports that support the execution and objectives of the Career Services program

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate. If an estimated salary range for this role is available, it will be provided in our Target Salary Range section. Target Salary Range

$160,000 - $195,000, if located in Illinois

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in a law firm learning and development department, law school career services office, or other role providing career services to lawyers or law students
  • A minimum of four (4) years of direct personnel management experience
  • Deep market knowledge and understanding of the business and legal landscape
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to present to management and peers
  • Experience working with sensitive or confidential information
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Experience working with databases and quality control of data entries
  • Proficiency and aptitude with software applications and design tools for creating and formatting graphs, charts, and other visuals or the willingness and ability to learn

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in a related area, such as marketing, law, business, or communications (M.B.A. or J.D. a considerable plus)
  • Working knowledge of project management, customer relationship, pipeline, and experience management databases such as InterAction, Salesforce, and/or Foundation
  • Familiarity with relevant company/market research tools
