Summary

This position is responsible for managing the strategic planning of meetings and events. In-depth knowledge of best practices, concepts and procedures within that role. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and oversees the work of others in the department and reports to the Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Director in strategic planning for department. Setting goals, refining department processes and best practices.
  • Ensures team maintains accurate data and reporting for each event.
  • Completes preliminary contract review to ensure that all contracts adhere to firm policies.
  • Supports Director in planning executive-level meetings throughout the year.
  • Functions as the lead planner on signature meetings and events. Works in tandem with identified team members to execute signature programs.
  • Seeks to develop direct reports and empower them to grow in their roles.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and act as a resource for direct reports.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate. If an estimated salary range for this role is available, it will be provided in our Target Salary Range section. Target Salary Range

$109,000 - $132,000 if located in Illinois

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Meeting Planner.
  • Meeting planning knowledge and experience of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of management experience.
  • Prior experience preparing event budgets and managing costs.
  • Demonstrated ability work simultaneously on multiple projects.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude are required.

Preferred:

  • Corporate Event planning experience in the legal field.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite (including Excel)
  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional)
