Senior Messaging Engineer

Summary

The Senior Messaging Engineer is responsible for operational support of and project initiatives involving Sidley’s messaging environment. This senior position provides maintenance, support, and enhancements of the messaging systems including Exchange, Outlook, MDM Solutions, Proofpoint, Email archiving, Active Directory & Application Performance Management. Candidates should be team players with excellent communication skills and have the ability to manage a multitude of assignments independently.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert for email client software such as Microsoft Office 365
  • Professionally coordinate, collaborate with and assist Customer Support (Tier 1 and Tier 2) personnel with messaging related incidents
  • Interface and coordinate with third-party software vendors as needed to achieve timely resolution of business impacting problems
  • Provide recommendations on optimizing the performance of system environment, including security best practices, reconfiguration, maintenance and/or upgrades
  • Train engineers and support specialist on operating and supporting messaging solutions
  • Manage mail gateway systems
  • Adapt communication content, message, and terminology based on audience expressing ideas in a succinct manner using plain language
  • Monitor and analyze messaging to ensure 99.9% uptime
  • Document system uptime and usage metrics
  • Provide 24x7 On-Call support on a rotating basis

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience supporting Exchange Messaging
  • A minimum of 7 years of Tier 3 administration experience in an Enterprise IT environment, having hands on experience administering email, email archiving, mobility, instant messaging and performed operational and break/fix activities
  • Experience migrating to and supporting Exchange Online & Online Archive
  • Current administration experience with email systems such as Microsoft Exchange 2016 Microsoft Office 365 and\or Exchange Online including experience migrating to Exchange Online
  • Intermediate-level experience administering Intune
  • Proficient with administration of systems such as Microsoft Office 365, Intune, Proofpoint, Exchange Online and Exchange Online Archiving
  • Strong understanding of networks and related WAN/LAN technologies
  • Flexibility with changing priorities and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision to reach team goals

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 5 years supporting Proofpoint and\or other security gateways
  • Experience with Exchange Online Archiving
  • Experience as a Global Administrator for Microsoft 365
