Summary

The Legal Recruiting Assistant provides administrative support to the Legal Recruiting Manager with the Summer Associate program, OCI (on campus interviewing) and the lateral attorney recruiting processes, in addition to other office support functions as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Legal Recruiting team in meeting and greeting candidates.
  • Acts as an additional point of contact for attorneys, summer associates and incoming associates via phone, email and in-person.
  • Assists in coordinating travel arrangements for recruits.
  • Responsible for all data entry and maintenance of the legal recruiting databases, including tracking files and incoming resumes.
  • Supports the Legal Recruiting team in coordinating in-office interviews dates with Summer Associate and lateral candidates with attorneys, including distribution of the interview schedules and/or communicating changes to the schedule.
  • Compiles on campus interviewing packets for attorneys.
  • Liaises with Marketing department to create new associate/summer associate directories. Keeps track of inventory of Marketing materials and orders additional supplies from the Corporate office, as needed, for recruiting purposes.
  • Collects candidate evaluations and drafts all letters to summer associate candidates.
  • Prepares orientation packets for new Summer and Fall associates; conducts office tours.
  • Assists in setting up Summer Associate orientation schedules and in drafting welcome memos.
  • Assists in planning, organizing and setting up events for the Summer program and assists in fostering attorney attendance at these events. Organizes various events in the office or at a venue for additional recruiting purposes throughout the year.
  • Assists with after hours events and activities, which will require periods of overtime.
  • Keeps track of candidate statuses during the fall recruiting season for callback candidates.
  • Sends out reimbursement letters to applicants and sends letters to other firms with regard to shared NALP expenses.
  • Supports the Legal Recruiting team in the day-to-day recruiting needs throughout the year, including managing the Legal Recruiting Manager expenses.
  • Performs clerical functions such as preparing & organizing files and binders, processing check requests, opens & organizing incoming mail and other administrative duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as needed.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Associate’s degree
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Law firm experience
  • Experience working with HR databases
