  • Summary

    The Marketing Specialist will work closely with the DC-based Marketing Manager to plan and project manage a range of marketing activities in Sidley’s Washington, D.C. office, ensuring they align with firmwide department goals. The role requires the development of strong and effective working relationships with the Marketing team, partners and lawyers in the offices, other internal departments and vendors.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop, plan, lead and execute in-house firm-sponsored seminars and receptions for clients and prospective clients. Among other things, this includes:
      • Serve as marketing lead for events and sponsorships;
      • Create and project manage critical dates and timeline;
      • Draft and project manage all related written internal and external communications, including social media and website; and
      • Work closely with marketing assistants on event logistics, including invitations, strategic development of guest lists, nametags, handout materials, site management, speakers, visual presentations and follow-up.
    • Assist in the development of processes and procedures to help ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Greater Washington, D.C. marketing department.
    • Play a significant role in the maintenance and expansion of the department’s contact database.
    • Help to identify, track and obtain relevant regional speaking and other credentialing opportunities for our lawyers; assist in the production of required materials.
    • Assist in the onboarding and integration of new and lateral associates.
    • Assist in leveraging regional sponsorships to ensure return on investment is maximized.
    • Assist, with the marketing manager, in the development and execution of lawyer workshops on developing a professional biography and LinkedIn profile.
    • Work on special projects as requested by the marketing manager and lawyers.

    Education and/or Experience:


    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
    • A minimum of five years of professional experience.
    • A minimum of two years of experience planning events.
    • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities.
    • Ability to interact with Firm members at all levels.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proofreading skills.


    • Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills.
    • Strong understanding of social media platforms and marketing.
    • Working knowledge of various marketing systems including Vuture and InterAction.
