  • Summary


    The Public Relations Assistant will be responsible for performing administrative and other activities to support the Firm’s Public Relations team, including writing press releases and other materials, limited media pitching, research, media monitoring and tracking, and PR activity reporting.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists with writing and editing a variety of materials, including press releases, messaging documents, pitches and reports.
    • Monitors for media coverage, tracks all PR activity and develops reports that measure the PR program’s effectiveness.
    • Conducts research to identify appropriate media targets for lawyers wishing to publish and pitch article ideas to media.
    • Reviews editorial calendars and pro-actively identifies opportunities for Sidley and its lawyers to earn exposure in target media outlets.
    • Performs various research projects as assigned.
    • Handles administrative projects including scheduling, meeting coordination, electronic filing and invoice processing.
    • Other projects as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field
    • One to three years of experience in a public relations role
    • Proficiency with the full Microsoft suite of products
    • High-degree of comfort making phone calls to third-parties for research purposes
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities.


    • Experience working with a media monitoring tool such as Cision
    • PR agency experience
