  • Summary

    The VTC Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the firm's video conferencing infrastructure, video conference endpoints, application configurations and associated video collaboration applications. The VTC Engineer is also responsible for providing backup to the VTC Technicians to ensure delivery of world-class video meetings.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure proper configuration and operation of all aspects of the video conferencing infrastructure, including, but not limited to, the video bridge servers and associated components such as the video management software, video recording server, content management applications, and video collaboration devices.
    • Act as the centralized video network maintenance point of contact, receiving and responding to alerts from networked video systems, performing remote troubleshooting, and coordinating with appropriate on-site resources and/or vendors for support.
    • Create and maintain all configurations (both hardware and software) for all video conferencing collaboration networked systems.
    • Oversee vendor activities associated with the video conferencing infrastructure and associated applications. Establish and maintain relationships with third party vendors.
    • Track all video conferencing collaboration licenses and ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
    • Coordinate maintenance agreements on all components of the video conferencing environment.
    • Maintain the video conferencing infrastructure operational documentation; participate in regular disaster recovery drills.
    • Provide training to existing and new Multimedia Services (MMS) and User Support staff, as appropriate.
    • Provide administrative support, including, but not limited to, remote-based video conferencing, including approved home-based systems for lawyers and senior staff.
    • Perform regular health checks of all video conferencing equipment and supporting infrastructure; track and remediate all issues.
    • Perform regular preventive maintenance on all video conferencing equipment.
    • Maintain understanding of current and new technologies.
    • Provide backup or overflow support outside of assigned work hours.
    • Flexible to work additional hours, as needed.

    Education and/or Experience:


    • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Video Conferencing systems
    • Proven troubleshooting skills
    • Experience providing remote technical support in a distributed, international organization
    • Event coordination experience
    • Specific Video Conferencing experience including:
      • Knowledge of one or more of the following Cisco Unified Communications technologies: Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CUCME), Cisco Unified Presence Server (CUPS), Cisco Unity Express (CUE), Cisco Meeting Server (CMS), Cisco Meeting Manager (CMM),Cisco Telepresence Server and Cisco Telepresence Conductor
      • Advanced knowledge of Cisco TMS, the ability to schedule meetings, test connectivity, monitor connections, troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly
      • Experience in deploying, installation and management of Jabber IM&P and Phone services in a large enterprise environment
      • Advanced troubleshooting skills with Cisco TAC and other external vendors, as required
      • Thorough working knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of AV and video teleconferencing-related technology
      • Strong knowledge of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, TCP/IP, QoS, ISDN, Firewall Traversal, SIP, H.323, IP networks, firewalls, switches and routers and LDAP integration
      • Understanding of the Video Conferencing equipment grouping configurations, including arrangement of audio/video IP (data network) appliances, encoding appliances used to capture video, compressing and delivering video over IP, and placement of secure encryption devices for successful delivery of multiple, simultaneous video conferencing to one or more facilities on the installation
      • Expertise with Jabber, Bluejeans, WebEx, Skype for Business, Polycom, Cisco, and Zoom video conferencing applications
      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite


    • Preference for one or more of the following Cisco Certifications: CCNA, CCNA-Voice, CCNP-Voice, CCIE-Voice. Other technology or product knowledge, experience or certifications in the following areas are a plus: security, routing, switching, wireless, programming skills (C, C++, Linux, PowerShell Scripting)
    • Familiarity with Cisco LAN switches (core, distribution and access), Cisco firewalls, routers and voice gateways
    • Experience with EMS scheduling software
