This position is a key leader in the Firm's Business IT Solutions area, which oversees all of the Firm's Accounting, HR, Marketing, Knowledge Management, intranet and external website systems. This position's primary role is enabling the development, implementation, and/or maintenance of the applications and systems -- including sub-systems, interfaces, and programs -- that are used and/or sponsored by the Firm's Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, and Knowledge Management departments, as well as all associated web properties. The responsibilities include conceiving, managing, and implementing strategic technology and business process projects, facilitating discussions and planning for future technology needs, along with the day-to-day operations of keeping the systems running smoothly with high uptime and reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible, not only for the execution of the duties noted below, but also for the management and development of a team of 9+ professionals in the performance of those duties. This position is expected to:

  • Provide and perform application development for custom applications.
  • Support applications in both a development and support role.
  • Manage and direct the team's activities; assigning staff members to various initiatives, coordinating schedules and related team activities, balancing team resources against demands and priorities.
  • Communicate / consult with others across business units (Accounting / HR / IT etc.) to coordinate activities and ensure development efforts align with business goals
  • Anticipate and address resource needs -- permanent and consultant, including interviewing and making recommendations.
  • Guide, direct, advise, & counsel staff on administrative policies and procedures, methods, priorities, technical problems, training needs, issues, etc.
  • Review and evaluate the staff's work and prepare and deliver staff performance appraisals.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve individual and team performance.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 7 years of business systems development experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience working with both functional stakeholders and technical specialists to execute against projects.
  • In-depth experience with client-server, web, and mobile application architectures
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts and corresponding experience working with relational databases



  • Professional services industry experience – ideally Systems Consulting and Legal
  • Experience working with SiteCore, Visual Basic, PeopleSoft, 4GL, HTML, XML, SharePoint
  • Direct involvement in deploying, upgrading, and supporting enterprise application systems that serve a global user base
  • Direct involvement in strategic planning efforts
