Summary

Reporting to the Director of Data Platform and Engineering, the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence advances the firm’s data strategy by shaping, delivering, and refining scalable BI solutions and analytics platforms. The role ensures that high-quality, secure, and performant insights reach stakeholders firm-wide, empowering data-driven decisions. Partnering cross-functionally, the Senior Manager optimizes BI architecture, boosts operational efficiency, maximizes business value, and enforces rigorous data-governance and privacy standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advance the firm’s BI strategy by championing initiatives that preserve data quality, security, and performance while aligning insights with business goals.
  • Architect and elevate scalable BI ecosystems—data stores, semantic layers, and visualization platforms—that power analytics, machine-learning, and AI use cases.
  • Lead the build and continual refinement of dashboards, reports, and self-service tools, adopting modern, cloud-native technologies and distributed processing where they add value.
  • Partner across Data Engineering, AI, Product, Business Stakeholders, Operations, and Support to set project priorities and deliver integrated solutions on time and on budget.
  • Create robust processes and tooling that widen data visibility, standardize KPIs, and turn raw data into actionable insights for stakeholders at every level.
  • Partner with data-governance to ensure integrity, accessibility, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Translate complex analytics into clear, business-ready stories, keeping executives and cross-functional teams aligned on goals, progress, and impact.
  • Assess and recommend BI vendors and third-party tools, balancing technical fit with organizational need, cost and scalability considerations.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing BI team, providing coaching, career development, and annual performance reviews.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate. Target Salary Range

$185,000 - $210,000 if located in Illinois

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business/Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data warehousing
  • A minimum of 5 years leading BI or analytics teams, with a record of mentoring and scaling high-performing talent
  • Deep expertise in modern BI stacks—semantic layers, dimensional data modeling (star/snowflake), and advanced SQL/ELT techniques
  • Hands-on mastery of visualization and reporting platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent, plus demonstrable skill in data storytelling for executive audiences
  • Working knowledge of Lakehouse and cloud data-warehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and supporting technologies with an emphasis on scalability, performance, and security
  • Proven success delivering governed, compliant BI solutions in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills—able to translate technical insights into clear business value and influence decision-makers

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA
  • Experience implementing and operating BI Solutions in an Azure, Databricks ecosystem
  • Advanced knowledge of source control, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery model
  • Law firm experience
